Freeze-thaw is the real enemy
Water that gets into a post hole and freezes expands and pushes the post up. Do that for a few winters and the gate stops latching. We set below the frost line, backfill with gravel so water drains, and crown the concrete so it sheds instead of holding a puddle at the base.
A permit map with a lot of borders
Between the city, Hamilton County townships, and the Northern Kentucky side, the rules change every few miles. Historic districts add another layer, with material and height restrictions that are not negotiable. We check the jurisdiction and any district overlay from your parcel before the quote goes out.

- Regularly. We rack panels to the grade where we can and step them where the pitch is too severe, and we price hand-dig access when a machine cannot reach the line.
- How do you keep frost from lifting posts?
- Set below the frost line, gravel at the base for drainage, and a crowned concrete cap so water sheds away instead of pooling.
- Are there historic district restrictions?
- In several neighborhoods, yes, covering height, material, and sometimes style. We check for an overlay on your parcel before quoting.
